Tamira Rutter is a Policy Researcher who works with state governments to review and analyze policy that impacts communities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and National Security Intelligence from Fairmont State University and her Bachelor of Science in Public Policy and Public Service from Arizona State University. She is now pursuing her Master of Public Administration at Marshall University. Tamira lives in Clarksburg with her husband, Marcus, and their dog, Ben.
Tamira believes that attracting and retaining businesses is essential to building Clarksburg’s financial strength and supporting long-term growth. She also recognizes that Clarksburg’s identity is rooted in the culture of its people; both long-time residents and those new to the community. By strengthening local businesses and welcoming new opportunities, she hopes to create a stronger bond across the city and ensure that Clarksburg remains a vibrant, thriving place to live and work.
Clarksburg faces a serious challenge with vacant properties, many of which can become hazards to the community, from fire risks to structural collapse. Tamira is committed to working with residents, city departments, and local partners to turn these spaces into safe, useful, and vibrant parts of the community once again. She believes that by focusing on revitalization rather than letting buildings deteriorate, Clarksburg can grow stronger, safer, and more welcoming for everyone.
Tamira believes that a community is only as strong as the children it supports. By investing in after-school and recreation programs, Clarksburg can give young people safe, positive opportunities to learn, grow, and connect. With so many programs closing in recent years, she is committed to ensuring that Clarksburg has youth programs that are strong, stable, and sustainable; programs that show our children they are valued and that their community is here to lift them up.
